COMPETITION TIME!! 

In August we entered the Fruitopia Festival’s Bake Off!

This year there was a new category: “Corporate Bake Off” that was not governed by a theme…… we could use our imagination and let the creative juices flow…..and we did!!

There were three ideas that were brought to the table as to the type / design of cake that people would prefer to make.

Everyone voted for their preferred cake design and the final choice was to make an edible version of the Lismore Community Garden.

Over two days a core group of five people supported by two staff baked and decorated like mad.

These seven awesome people were then themselves supported by all the other people who then came in to decorate all the amazing cupcakes that then framed the Garden Cake.

On the Sunday the cake was brought to the Festival and entered to many oohs, aaahs and exclamations!  We even had rave comments from Jenny Dowell the Mayor of Lismore who recognised the cake to be the Community Garden (phew!)

And so, to the judging….. this was taken very seriously from what we could tell…..the judges looked, smelled and tasted the cakes and marked their scores on judging sheets…..it was all very nerve wracking!

In our category the second place award went to Tweed Health

The first Prize went to the Lismore Workers Club…… no, we didn’t win our category !!!!

A big congratulations to all those who baked, decorate, supported others to bake and decorate, and those who were just great support – you know who you are!!
